Corporate events may improve 'weak' communication with young staff
Corporate events could be used to improve communication between new young members of staff and others in their team, as one expert claims this area has been overlooked since the recession.Guy Emmerson, associate director of recruitment consultancy firm Badenoch and Clark, says younger employees joining a company often find it difficult to trust their managers and understand commercial objectives, as they have been exposed to lots of negative news since the global economic crisis.
A corporate event might help businesses improve dialogue with recent starters and ensure any difficulties or queries can be resolved by implementing a "really strong" communication culture.
Good management is the "number one thing", according to the employment expert, as well as regular appraisals so team members can be sure of how they are doing and identify any weaknesses.
A recent report by Badenoch and Clark revealed almost one-in-three young professionals do not trust their bosses, with 32.2 per cent of 16 to 25-year-olds saying they find it hard to believe "most" or "any" of what they say.
